The Lockdown Gallery will continue till the end of this month, so we can see all your autumnal treasures – the last one will be published on 28th September.
Weather: A dry warm start, turning cool, wet and windy from midweek
A welcome return for Carine Carson with some beautiful autumn colours– and a limited welcome for one plant…
Agastache ‘Blue Boa’, Phlox × arendsii ‘Luc’s Lilac’, Anemone x hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’ and Leycesteria formosa ‘Golden Lanterns’
Penstemon ‘Firebird’ with Astrantia major – a Dove Cottage hybrid
Helianthus ‘Carine’ – Diane made me buy this on our last Garden holiday because of the name. She knows I don’t like yellow in my garden and promised me it was lemon. The leaves, dark stems and simple flowers, and the fact that the flowers all face away from the house, means it might be allowed to stay!
Maggie Sugden’s garden is full of colour too
Rosa ‘Munstead Wood’
Rosa ‘Hot Chocolate’
Rosa ‘De Recht’
Salvia ‘Nachtvlinder’
Hypotelephium (used to be Sedum) ‘Autumn Glory’ and I think it’s ‘Red Cauli’
Just a pleasant display of foliage. Another red Sedum, Francoa and lambs ears with Astrantia etc. in the background.
Indigofera tinctoria
Helenium ‘Moorheim Beauty’. This has been flowering for months!
Terry Benton describes his Wiltshire garden as unkempt – unkempt in a good way, I’d say
Unkempt garden
Unkempt garden
Euonymus alatus – close up
And Liz Hall’s garden is glowing in the autumn sunshine
Rosa ‘Grace’
Zinnia
Solanum laxum ‘Creche du Pape’
Cosmos
We haven’t heard much from Diane Rawnsley since work reappeared in her life, but here’s a fine display
Still plenty of colour in the main border
White Phlox paniculata and Aster ‘Twilight’
Unknown tall pink Aster – any ideas anyone?
Pittosporum garnettii and Hydrangea ‘Annabelle’ brightening up a dark corner
Phormium ‘Jester’ with Persicaria microcephala ‘Red Dragon’ and Oxalis
Persicaria amplexicaulis ‘Rosea’ with Aster ‘Twilight’
Calamagrostis brachytricha and Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight’
Anemone x hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’ against Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Midnight’
The Hackett garden’s entry could be entitled ‘Better late than never’ – as these plants have only just decided to make a belated effort, including an edible one(no, not the Aconitum)
Aconitum ‘Stainless Steel’ – only just produced its first flowers, but looking handsome in the autumn sun
Roscoea purpurea f. rubra. Bought from Samantha Hopes when she gave us a talk on Roscoeas last September. This specimen is looking a little battered after being buried under flopping leaves of bigger plants
Clematis texensis ‘Duchess of Albany’ – always the last Clematis to flower in our garden
Pink Oyster Mushroom – an autumn treat for breakfast. I started these off in the spring but we’ve had nothing till today. We won’t get fat on these though….
