The West Yorkshire Group was formed in 1982 and has over 80 members coming from all over Yorkshire! We are all mad about garden plants and keen to learn and collect more!‘
We are gardeners with varying levels of expertise ranging from novice gardeners who are discovering a new interest to those who have more expertise and knowledge which they are more than happy to share.
We meet on the second Friday of the month from Oct-May, and on the 3rd Friday of September (see our programme for details), and have a series of garden visits between June and August. An annual day trip and a 5 day holiday are also offered each year.
There are talks from a variety of expert speakers. At our meetings we usually have a raffle, members provide a variety of plants for sale and there are refreshments allowing members to socialise. We are a friendly bunch and are always happy to welcome guests and new members
We have produced two island displays at Chelsea Flower Show, one in 2010 gaining a Silver Medal, and again in 2013 – this time winning a Silver-Gilt Medal.
